The
"Yungaburra Pub" also known as the Lake
Eacham Hotel is located at Yungaburra, Far North Queensland,
Australia. It is ideally situated in the Cairns Hinterland with the Tropical
Tablelands, World Heritage Rainforest , Great Barrier Reef and the Outback
on its many doorsteps.
The
village of Yungaburra
has existed largely unchanged since 1910, with many of the original
buildings still remaining. Like many of the Tableland towns, Yungaburra
has an undeniable country charm and has several art and craft galleries
and displays, restaurants, and a wide variety of accommodation.
At
the top of the Gillies Range, just minutes from the historic township
of Yungaburra is Lake Barrine where the stable water level gives a tidy
bank with rainforest right down to the water, much of it reflected in
secluded bays. Many of Far North Queensland's timbers can be seen around
Lake Barrine, including the giant Kauri Pines, and the wildlife likely
to be spotted include Eastern Water Dragons, and Amethyst Pythons sunning
themselves on logs.
Nearby
is the 489 hectare Lake Eacham National Park, and as with Lake Barrine,
Lake Eacham is a volcanic crater lakes full of crystal clear water and
surrounded by lush tropical highland rainforest. Lake Eacham also offers
swimming, canoeing, bushwalking, prolific birdlife and an astonishing
range of rainforest animals.
Yungaburra's central location to the crater lakes and Lake Tinaroo make
it the ideal focal point for any visitor interested in recreational
activities including sailing, horse riding, boating, swimming, grass-skiing,
canoeing, bush-walking, water-skiing and sailboarding.
